Why we built it
We got tired of being the bad guy
TurnItOff started at the kitchen table — like a lot of parent apps do. Our kids had phones. We wanted them to have freedom and connection, but every evening turned into the same argument: five more minutes, then just this video, then a slammed door.
Confiscating the phone worked, but it felt awful. Shouting from the stairs didn't. We looked at parental control apps and found bloated dashboards, per-app blocking we didn't need, and setups that took an afternoon. We wanted something simpler: a calm pause button we could hit from the sofa, and bedtime that just happened.
So we built TurnItOff — lock the screen remotely, set schedules that stick, see usage without spying on every app. Built for UK families, priced fairly, and designed so the parent stays in control without turning every night into a fight.
